Tinctures are concentrated herbal preparations in which the active ingredients, both medicinal and nutritional, are extracted in dilute alcohol. Herbal tinctures are concentrated, easy to use, and convenient to carry.
An important benefit of using tinctures is that you can control the
amount of herbs you are taking to the drop. Tinctures are easy to carry,
are easily absorbed in the body, and any unpleasant flavors can be
masked by adding them to juice or tea.
At Chakra 4, we use brandy for most of our tinctures. Brandy is made from grapes, rather than grains, which are often genetically modified.
The amount of alcohol contained in a dropperfull of tincture is about the same amount of alcohol that naturally occurs in a ripe banana. In other words, it is a very negligible amount. However, if it is a concern for you, you can simply evaporate the alcohol by adding your tincture dose to a cup of hot tea, or a small amount of boiling water. The herbs will remain intact.

We work from a relationship between ourselves, the plants we work with, and the natural forces that shape and influence life (such as the Sun, Moon, and seasons).
