About The Certificate Programs

The Western Urban Herbalist Program has four certificate programs, Home & Family Herbalist, Professional Herbalist, Clinical Herbalist, and Materia Medica.
The Home and Family Herbalist Certificate is perfect for the person who loves herbal medicine and wishes to incorporate herbs into their daily life.
The Professional Herbalist Certificate is for individuals who wish to make herbal healing a serious study, incorporating it into a pre-existing career, or beginning on a whole new career path.
The Clinical Herbalist Certificate is for individuals wishing to open their own clinical practice.
The Materia Medica Certificate focuses solely on the medicinal plants and their applications. This certificate is perfect for individuals who have already completed an herbal or holistic education program and wish to focus solely on learning the uses of medicinal plants.

Program participants are trained in the many aspects of being a professional working herbalist in an urban environment. Each program features academic study, hands-on experience, and an apprenticeship with fieldwork and professional work environments. All programs include Materia Medica, the in-depth study of medicinal plants.
